The Living Nightmare - taste of Chapter 12

All sense of the bad feelings he had were now forgotten as he caught glimpses of Beth, the way she blushed slightly when their eyes met thrilled him to his soul. Morgan called to Beth from upstairs and she left reluctantly. Brian chatted to Laura as she prepared a snack for the group before they left, keeping something aside for each member as they arrived. Joanna and Matt arrived next, Joanna happily showing off her bracelet from Matt. Laura admired the bracelet and wished them happiness. Sam turned up next looking flushed.
Laura sensed a presence when she arrived. Her aura had changed to a darker blue/black color. Laura studied this for a minute but was interrupted by the doorbell. It was David. She sensed something different about him too his aura had faded to a light grey/brown color but it was transparent. She wondered on whether to tell Morgan and Beth and decided against it as it may knock their concentration off balance. Instead she snapped her fingers and gave the illusion that both auras were normal. Sam with her light/grey color and David with his blue/ grey color. She hoped it would last.

The Living Nightmare Chapter 11 Teasers

David coward in a corner as he watched what drifted toward him, he did not want to cry out. He was a man. Men didn’t show fear. He started to shake as the blackness got nearer. He could hear the whispers of many voices, young and old. He tried to listen to what they were saying but there were like dead animal cries that distorted everything. He slid down the wall as it neared he felt his bladder let go and the blackness took over.

_____

Joanna watched as Morgan screamed she was alone and weak, almost normal. Her power held nothing against the blackness but she had tried. Joanna had watched her as she had thrown light at it. It had been so bright and had held the blackness at bay for a while. Joanna had sent Matt to find Beth. Beth would be able to help. Brian came running around the corner with Matt. They were out of breath and shouting something she could not understand. They watched as Morgan slowly drained. She was losing this battle. Tears fell across Joanna’s cheeks as she watched the darkness smother Morgan. They could hear cry’s of despair, the three screamed at her to give it up and run but she heard them no more. She could feel it grabbing her, pulling at her, draining the life from her.

The Living Nightmare - Chapter 10 Excerpt

For the last six years her parents had treated her as second best. Ever since her sister fell over the cliff in the woods, she had blamed herself on that night. Her mother had been looking after her. She had fallen earlier that day and was tucked up in bed with a sprained ankle.

Her father had been away on business at the time. Her mother had told Simon to take the dog its night time walk, just to the park and back where she could see from the window. Mary had offered to help too and was told she was to stay with Simon. She had only been six years old at the time. Her eight year old brother Simon had said he would look after Mary.

The next day the police were at the house reporting they had found the dog outside the Church but no signs of Mary or Simon. The day after that they reported finding Mary at the bottom of the North cliffs. Two weeks later little Simon was found at the bottom of Haven Lake. Sam’s parents had never recovered from that night. They never spoke of little Mary or Simon after that.
